cursed cosplay with @rhyleep
november 2024

On November 2nd and 3rd we welcomed cosplayer and content creator Rhylee Passfield to Warrnambool for some cursed cosplay and for some tips on managing social media fame in 2024! Our first workshop was at The Space on Liebig St where Rhylee delivered a short presentation of how she found her online fame, and some of the repercussions that come with suddenly finding yourself front and centre on the internet. On Sunday, we came together to learn how to make cursed cosplay from things around the house. After putting together an army of Dobby, we dove into creating cursed cosplay of our favourite characters like Spongebob, Dr Eggman, and Randy Marsh. It might look silly, but we learned a lot about crafting and creations!

vr robot dance part with isobel
april 2024

Isobel Knowles is a digital and VR master, so we had to get her in to make some VR robots! We built robots IRL using wood, plastic, and anything we could get our hands on that would make our little characters more interesting. We painted them up and left to dry overnight. The next day, we used some awesome futuristic technology to 3D scan the robots, rig them up, and programmed them to dance inside a VR headset. Then, when we put on the headset, we were surrounded by the dancing robot creations of everyone!

stop motion animation 2024

We've done a lot of stop motion workshops in 2024, we couldn't possibly cover them all individually! We start off learning about the history of stop motion and some famous stop motion films and television. Then we write a brief story we'll attempt to film, before making all of our sets, characters, and props! Using iPads and our Animation Stations, we take individual frames that when put together make our character move throughout the set! We have lots of examples on our YouTube channel, go check it out!
